Ophthamologist

 Duties and Responsibilities: Ophthalmologists share the same duties and responsibilities, and probably the same patients as optometrists. The only difference between the two is that Ophthalmologists  perform eye surgery while optometrists do not. Optometrists only treat and diagnose diseases and illnesses of the eye. An Ophthalmologist may diagnose a patient's disease or illness, or maybe even just to check your vision by making you go through diagnostic tests. These surgeons are also qualified to prescribe glasses or contact lenses.

Salary: $250,000 - $300,000

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, 4 years at medical school, 3-8 years at a residency program

Reflection: Do you think you would like to become one? Why? Why not? I would like to become a ophthalmologist because it seems like an interesting profession. It is more serious than an optometrist and it makes a good sum of money.

When people want to predict their future is is usually during the moment. For example after finishing an exam they would want to predict their future to find out the score they received. You can only create sop much of your future. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and see where life takes you. I would like to see my future to see whether I own the house of my dreams. Creating something is not the same as seeing the finished product when you are in the present. It is like how we  cannot choose what partners we have for IDP so we cannot create it. But we still want to know whether we got people who are good because we want as many advantages as we can. Not everything in life can be controlled, all we can do is try our best and hope for the best.

Duties and Responsibilities: Operating room technicians are responsible for mainly pre-operations, and post surgery duties. These Technicians work in hospital settings.  These people work in the surgical environment. These people need post secondary education to be accepted to a job. Operating Room Technicians make sure that the surgical room and the surgical tools and equipment are safe( clean) and sterile. It is important to lower the risk of infection for patients trying to recover.

Salary: $40,000-$50,000

Education: Associate's Degree, High school diploma, Become certified, (9-15 months of practice)

Demand or need for this profession: to grow by 15%


Reflection: Would you like to be one? Why? Why not? I would not like to become an operating room technician because I would rather become a regular surgeon, maybe a cardiothoracic surgeon.

This quote does not make sense to me. Every student success statement is a version of this so I will answer accordingly. If living was as simple as knowing what is right or wrong, we would live in a better world with simple circumstances. But we do not live in a world like this, humans are not simple and decisions are not simple. Not everyone lives in such a privileged world that smoking a blunt is the height of their problems. Life gives us circumstances and obstacles. It is not always easy to know what is right or wrong. Not everyone has pure intentions. We all have different intentions and goals and we discover more "efficient" ways to get to them. Also what is the point of these student success statements? They are all the same just said by different people. It would be nice to write about some people who have actual meaning to the words they say.

Duties and Responsibilities: Occupational medicine is a type of medicine that deals with the prevention and treatment of injuries and diseases occurring while people are at their job. This involves returning injured workers to health and gainful employment in their chosen occupation. These physicians must have a general knowledge of work site operations. They must be able to diagnose and treat the workers efficiently.

Salary: $170,000 - $240,000,

Education Requirements: Residency program, Board certification, Bachelor's degree, Undergrad work in Biology, Must have experience in the healthcare setting

Demand for this profession: Declining

Reflection: Do you think you would like to become one? Why? Why not? I would not like to become a occupational medicine physician because I would not be interested in the job. I would rather work in a hospital.

The kids from the little league baseball team believed that what their coach convinced them of doing was harmless. If the kids knew it was wrong one of them would have done something about it. Kids would not choose to do something that dangerous if their winnings were on the line. I think it is rude to say that these kids will be dishonorable all of their lives if it was stated they they did not know that having a teammate out of their boundaries would make them have to forfeit the games. It is unnecessary to say that when people make one mistake that they will always be dishonorable. As humans we need to learn to improve ourselves and forgive others. We should be able to learn from our mistakes and not be ridiculed for trying to better ourselves. This definition of honor is upsetting and one-sided.

Nursing Home Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities: Nursing home provide all day care for injured or ill patients, usually for the elderly who may not be able to take care of themselves. The Nursing Home Administrator supervises all the staff to make sure  they are accomplishing their job to the best of their ability. Their nursing home is in charge of disabled and injured people who need assistance and care. The Administrators must oversee patient admissions, financial planning, and personnel management.

Salary: $87,000 - $119,000

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, Pass the NAB test, an M.H.A

Demand or Need for this Profession: to grow by 23% by 2020

 

Reflection: Would you like to become one? Why? Why not? I would not like to become a Nursing Home Administrator because it would not be a job I would find interesting. It is more of an office job full of monitoring and administration, I find no interest in sitting at a desk all day.
