Duties and responsibilities: Field surgeons preform the basic duties of a physician. They examine the soldier to diagnose. then they treat them whether it is a disease or a wound. Field surgeons may also provide resuscitative and definitive care for injured soldiers. Some field surgeons may even become faculty for one of the military's education programs. Many field surgeons also take part in seminars and conferences to educate others on the need for medical careers.
Salary: $65,000 annually
Education: Attend Military Medical School, Bachelor's Degree, commission as a second lieutenant
Demand: Shortage, To grow by the year 2024
Reflection: Do you think you would like to become one? Why? Why not? I would not be so eager to join the army as a field surgeon if I am beginning my career as a doctor. I might be one when I am more experienced and less afraid.
